Vehicles and Engines

Drilling,  completion,  work-‐over trucks,  rigs, and equipment such as pumps, operating both on and off of work sites, run off of diesel-‐powered and/or gasoline-‐powered engines. The exhaust fumes from diesel and/or gasoline fuels produce great quantities of emissions. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are found in exhausts from gasoline and diesel engines.

A long list of other air pollutants, including nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, BTEX, formaldehyde, and metals are also contained in the gasoline and diesel engines used by oil and gas companies. Due to the activities, actions, and/or inactions, operating both on and off of an operator's work sites, landowners are often forced to breathe and inhale PAH, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, BTEX, formaldehyde, and metals on an almost daily basis, which can contribute substantially to injury.
